the biggest reality show...low percentage of voters!

It can't get bigger than this... The biggest reality show the world is witnessing...that's the Elections in India. Many parties, many agendas, many leaders... May 16th will bring the results of this reality show. Some non-government organisations have been trying to make the public aware of voting and ensure that as many people get their names into voter list. However, the turn around in voters on the election day has been surprising. Many areas recorded a 50% or less voters turning up on the day of election. And surprisingly the city Bangalore...with many engineers, MBAs and all other degrees on earth...recorded a low voter turn up. Government declares holiday to encourage people to vote, what most of them use this time is plan a outing, movie and all the activities that can help kill time, but vote... And when it comes to criticising roads, inflation, economy, government, etc everybody enjoys doing it. Come on...use your right to vote, and then talk about roads, inflation, and what the government is doing to improve those...

What makes elections much bigger is the media covering it.. Last elections there were around 50 or less news channels that covered the election, this time count of news channel has increased by three folds...taking the count around 140+. I wonder if people take away anything watching so many shows hosted by these channels. Are they watching it for entertainment? Debates, News, Interviews, etc... do they really help in making some one decide whom or which party to vote? Do they really get into the issues or just create a heated debate sessions which the viewer enjoys watching these?

India needs a leader who is strong in making decissions and can have a team which can prevent markets from plunging, keep the terrorists away and not let any activities like 26/11 or riots like in Gujarat repeat again, help the companies grow and strenghten the economy, reduce the number of people below poverty line, reduce the count of farmers ending their life due to the burden of loans... Well at the end its the number game.. I wonder if any party could form a goverment with single majority, its going to be a mix of parties with each one of them having their own priorties forming the government and why would that happen? The answer is simple, the lower percentage of voters casting their vote...
